Half the battle of enjoying the 2010 Winter Olympics on television is knowing not only when the events will be on but what network is carrying them. With multiple networks running events that sometimes overlap each other it is really easy to miss something you've been looking for. For the weekend of February 20th, there will be some great events to catch, and this guide will also tell you what athletes you may want to watch for so you don't miss the most hyped events.
9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. – Men’s Curling
On Saturday, February 20, the events will kick off on television at 9:00 a.m. PST with Curling - Men’s Round Robin Session 7. The Men’s Curling events will be broadcast on MSNBC throughout the day featuring Norway vs. Denmark, France vs. Germany, China vs. Great Britain, and Sweden vs. United States in the morning. 10:00 a.m. - Women's Alpine Skiing
This will be the Super -G event , and it is a medal event so the competition should be pretty fierce. Super-G is a combination of the giant slalom with the speed of downhill racing. Lindsey Vonn of the U.S., despite a shin injury, is still the odds on favorite to win, but Maria Riesch or Elisabeth Gorgl may sneak in at the top spot if Vonn falters even a little bit. Nadia Fanchini and Anja Parson are also worth watching as the top 5 may be very tight.
Also taking place at 10:00 a.m. will be the Freestyle Skiing (Ladies’ Aerials Qualification). Both of these ladies’ events will be broadcast on NBC and will be thrilling to watch!
11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. – Ski Jumping
At 11:30 a.m. PST Individual Ski Jumping will take center stage with the LH Individual Final round Ski Jumping following at 12:30 p.m. Airing live on NBC, one of the most dangerous events of the Winter Olympics will be watched by millions. Simon Ammann of Switzerland, who already has one gold medal to his name, is the man to watch in the Long Hill event. Ammann will be competing last with Canada’s Stefan Read starting the competition. Peter Frenette of the US will be the third athlete competing for a gold in the LH Ski Jumping event.
Noon, 4:30 p.m., and 9:00 p.m. – Men’s Ice Hockey
