One of the top websites for revenue sharing is the little website known as eHow, which bills itself as the “how to do everything” website. If you look up instructions or help on doing nearly anything, the odds are good that an article from eHow will appear at the top of the search engine listings. Looking for information on cleaning a fish, peeling a pomegranate or installing an engine in your Ford truck? Then head to eHow and you’ll find the answers and step by step instructions.
The website needs people to write those articles and it gets content from two sources. One is Demand Media, which owns the website and hires people to write articles for a flat fee. The bulk of the articles come from users on the website and all you need to do to become a user is to register with the site and start writing. Users are paid by revenue sharing, which the site keeps a closely guarded secret. The pay is based on a combination of factors, including clicks from people and clicks on the advertisements on your article.
If you want to make money from eHow, then you need to know how the system works. The first thing you need to do is search through the database and look for articles with the same title or a similar title already on the site. For example, if you’re writing an article about how to make children’s Valentine’s Day cards and see an article on how to make Valentine’s Day cards for kids, move on. Periodically eHow searches through the website, identifies similar articles and deletes some of the similar or same titles, which means you want unique content.
You also have to pay attention to the use of keywords in your article. Start by identifying the top words people would search for to find your article and make sure you use those in your article, which pushes the article towards the top of the search engine results. This helps get more people to your article, which also helps earn more money for you.
Another way to make money on eHow is to get more traffic, which means advertising your article on different websites. Some people add their eHow tag to the bottom of their signature on forums. The website also makes it easy to advertise your article through social networking such as Facebook, Twitter, Digg and Stumble Upon. List the article with as many sites as possible to get more readers and viewers and help drive up your eHow earnings.
