Although it is uniquely set apart from the other genres of music, rap adds a very diverse and extraordinarily artistic dimension to music as a whole. It has been heavily criticizer by many listeners for the artists not singing, but simply talking. However, if you listen to rap music without having your mind set that you won't enjoy it, you will quickly learn that the artists are very talented. They use rhythm and soul to captivate listeners. This is what makes it a true form of music.

From Lil' Wayne to Eminem, every rap artist is very different from one to another. Since many of their lyrics are explicit and heavily peppered with profane language, rap isn't geared for younger listeners. On the other hand, it shouldn't be classified as a dirty form of music, as there is a growing list of Christian rap artists that bring rap to a cleaner level.

One of the aspects that makes rap such a sensation is their rhymes and the style in a whole. You can tell that the artists work hard on each line, and if you ever go to one's concert, you will learn that they are very talented. Many are able to "free style" which means they can start rapping on any subject. The syllables start flowing, and it is definitely talent, since they usually do it at high speed and precise lyrics.

When comparing rap to other genres of music, it is almost like comparing salt to pepper. The closest form of music is hip hop, which still differs from rap. It is also interesting when music groups mix rap with other forms of music. For example, Linkin Park, who usually stays along the lines of rock, includes rap in a few of their songs. It adds interesting style to their music.

Overall, when you consider all of the aspects that make it truly unique, rap should definitely be considered a form of music. The talented artists are truly breathtaking when you consider the lyrics that they are able to come up with, especially when they freestyle. Since many of their lyrics are generally explicit, rap music is usually geared for more mature listeners. Rap it truly a unique style of music, and if you listen to the lyrics and rhythm, you will most likely be impressed. Even though it isn't for obviously for everyone, it is spreading very quickly. In all, rap should be considered a form of music as it features bold style and originality.
