The African soccer dream team 2000-2009 will no doubt be the Egyptian national team and their club side Al Ahly. The records of the success of both teams in the years 2000-2009 are quite spectacular. If you take the statistics of the Egyptian club side Al Ahly it has won the CAF African Champions Club Competition an unprecedented record 5 times between 2003 -2009. It lost to the Nigerian club side Kano Pillars in 1990 after a stream of successful runs at the CAF African Champions Club Competition. The club is in very good form and has established stars playing for the Egyptian National Team, like Mohammed Hassan, Abou Trika, and Mohammed Barada. The team was voted the team of the century and went on an unprecedented winning match streak of over 40 matches without a loss. The team has represented Africa at the World Club Championship and gave a good account of themselves.
The Egyptian National team, the Pharohs deserves to be the African dream team 2000-2009. The tteam have won the African Nations Cup a record 6 times. The team won the Cup three consective times in 2006, 2008, and 2010, this run is unprecedented for an African team. Fifa has ranked the Egyptian National team the Pharohs as the best team in Africa. Even, though the team did not qualify for the World Cup in South Africa in 2010, it lost controversially to Algeria in Sudan . The team redeemed its image and beat Algeria in the Nations Cup by 4 goals to 1 to show its superiority over Algeria. The team is well managed by its coach Hassan Sehata, who has guided the team to win 6 African Nation Cup trophies a record no other coach in Africa has achieved.
The Egyptian teams for above reasons deserve all the accolades and without doubt are African dream teams of the decade 2000-2009. The teams have displayed a high level of technical discipline under their coaches. The coach Hassan Sehata doubles as a coach for both teams. The teams have the advantage of playing together for very long;,all the players play for Egyptians club sides with Al Ahly producing the bulk of players for the national team. The success of the teams can be attributed to the time the players have stayed together to blend as a team.
