Unlike a Christmas tree, which traditionally is an evergreen coniferous tree, an Easter tree can be anything. It can be a metal construction resembling a tree, it can be a branch of a tree, or it can be a mini tree of any kind. If you Google ‘Easter tree’ and click on ‘Images’ you will note a wide variety of ideas to chose from.
For your Easter tree you will need:
A tree (or a branch or a twig) Plain or painted blown or plastic eggs Little chocolate eggs in foil paper Colored ribbons or bows Flowers fuzzy bunnies Two twigs, orange wood or lollipop sticks Sewing tread Glue
You can paint, spray paint, or coat your Easter tree, branch or twig, coat it in varnish or leave natural.
Should you wish to put a cross on top of the tree, you can make a cross ornament from two small twigs, two orange wood sticks or even two lollipop sticks. Glue the sticks diagonally together, or tie them crisscrossed together with a piece of string and place the cross on top of the tree. This ornament, however, is entirety optional.
Depending on the size of the tree you can use large or small eggs and arrange them all over the tree branches just as you would glass balls on a Christmas tree.
To attach the eggs use ribbons or the sewing tread, using a knitting needle or sewing needle to carefully pierce the shell of the egg. However, store bought plastic or cardboard eggs already have looping holes in them.
Small chocolate eggs in colorful foil paper can be glued on the branches, along with bows and other small items.
More ribbons can be used to loop horizontally or vertically over the branches.
As an alternative to eggs, flowers can be used. Ideally narcissus, irises and tulips. Flowers are a little trickier to attach and have a limited life span, but make for a very festive tree. Instead of real flowers, silk or paper flowers can be used.
With an Easter tree it's all about color. Whether you use eggs, ribbons, bows or bunnies ... anything goes. It’s your tree so set your imagination free.
For additional decorating, arrange a couple of colorful eggs at the base of the tree or branch, along with some bunnies or yellow peeps.
With an Easter tree anything and everything goes.
