The benefits of article marketing are evident to many online business owners who wish to promote their website and business across the globe. Sadly, there are several article marketers out there who seem to fail to make their article marketing pursuit reach its full potential. There are some common errors that article marketers tend to do that make their promotion attempts unsuccessful. Here are some common mistakes that they make.
1. Failure to understand that the sole purpose of writing the article is to inform
Firstly, one must always remember that the sole purpose of writing the article is to inform people not to promote their business or products. The article in itself should be informative, useful to readers and presented in a simple manner to catch their attention. Articles should not directly talk about the business and their products and services. Marketing the business through these articles is done through the resource box where they talk briefly about the business and lure the readers to click there and learn more about the business.
2. Not maximizing the full potential of article marketing
Article marketing is not entirely about writing articles and placing links to your website all over the article. In fact, relying on only anchor texts within your articles may not work out as many article directories are restricting the quantity and types of links the articles bear.
Along with adding more quality incoming links to one’s website, article marketing should also be used to help better the search engine ranking of your website as a whole. This can be achieved by proper placement of keywords within your articles. One must be cautious as to have these keywords flow smoothly with the content of the article and not over do it. These keywords would then boost the search engine rankings and help drive more targeted traffic to one’s website.
These keywords should not undermine the quality of the articles that one publishes. Article marketers should always remember that it is the quality of their writings that would result in more publishers and syndication sites choosing their articles over others to publish and make the articles and thus the business soar in popularity. After all, this is the main aim of article marketing.
3. Duplicate content result in poorer search engine results.
Many article marketers may be guilty of trying to publish the same exact content on different sites. This sadly would affect their search engine optimization efforts adversely as it lowers the rankings on search engines for the same set of keywords. It is more optimal for article marketers to take the added efforts to create unique articles on the same topic in order not to jeopardize their chances of reaching more customers.
Rectifying these mistakes could allow one’s pursuit in article marketing to perform at its fullest potential and attract more customers to their online business. Online businesses rely on article marketing just like businesses rely on media advertising to boost their business. Hence it is important to understand how to best utilize this great tool.
