Science, religion and who's right about the creation of the earth
Throughout history, People of Science and religion have been at odds with each other about the creation of the Earth. The history of the church and its persecution of scientist through out history is an endless list of the greatest scientist and it still goes on today. The church's action against these so called men of “heresy” included, harassment, persecution, torture, censorship, scorn, threats and even burning at the stake. Many men of science do believe that god and science can co-exist. That a universe so beautiful and complex must have had a creator. The belief that every design must have a designer. The simplistic, unfounded, intolerant and unwaivering views that the church has towards scientist over the years has created a dichotomy. A belief that only the church's views are correct. An intolerant belief held so strongly, that the church would do anything to enforce it.
One example of the Church's actions against a scientist is Galileo being locked up in the latter years of his life. Locked up for his support of Copernican astronomy, which stated that the Earth revolved around the Sun and was not the center of the Universe. Copernicus, Newton, Darwin and Hubble are just a few other scientist scorned by the church. Time and time again the Church's views have been proven wrong by science. Views such as the earth is flat, the earth is the center of the universe and everything revolves around it, disease and insanity is a punishment of God and even that comets were not celestial bodies obeying the laws of physics, but were fireballs thrown in anger from the right hand of god. Even though the church's view have been proven wrong time and time again, it continues to defy science every step of the way. The only compromise the church has ever come up with for science over the years is to to introduce a pseudo science called “creationism,” which tries to connect religion with science with out fact. The creation of the Earth is just another point of conflict between science and religion.
Science is knowledge or study dealing with a body of facts or truths through observation and experimentation. Religion is a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature and purpose of the universe through a book written by men through a God in parables, illustrations, analogies and indirect meanings and comparisons. The age of the earth through carbon dating, the speed of light, the size
