Reflections: Lessons from pets

Lessons From Pets

" Lessons learned" is a phrase not often used when talking about pets. Yet the most valuable and important ones are those that they can certainly teach us.

The fact that a dog, cat, or any other pet gives "unconditional" love is by far the best lesson we could hope to learn. No matter what, a pet will love you without any restrictions all the time. There are no limits or circumstances that can ever change a pet's love for their owner.

A pet is always there by your side when you need them. They never speak a word, yet they can get you through the worst of times and the best of times. Just a look, a nudge, or a lick with
the tongue tells us that they are there for us and that everything will be okay.

Loyalty is a lesson that pets would instill in us could they speak. For no matter what we do to them.....whether it be spoiling or scolding....from one extreme to the other; a pet remains loyal to
to the end. Their are no conflicts in their minds as to who their number one is. Loyalty in a pet's world is a given.

Enjoying the simple things in life and not taking them for granted is a lesson we all should learn from our pets. The beauty of a summer's day, the invigorating feeling of a daily walk, the drink
of fresh cold water on a hot day are just some of the things we don't appreciate as much as our pets do.

Living each day to the fullest and never worrying about tomorrow and what it may bring is something that our pets definitely need to teach us. One day at a time, living for the moment is our pet's motto.....one we all would benefit from.

Pets teaching their owners..............who would have ever guessed?!
