So be aware that we actually need less food than we thought. The average people only need to take about 2000 to 2500 calories per day. Anything more than that, should be avoided. Our body is designed to store fats as backup energy in case of food shortages. So to lose weight, train your body not to store those excess fats by assuring a steady and constant supply of foods to it. That means eating regularly, so that the body knows food is aplenty. Try eating 5 meals per day rather than the usual 3 meals, this way the body will find no reason to store up excess fats. Never skip between meals or deprive your body of food. It will come as a sign of food shortage and the body will tend to store more fats eventually. That is why most diet plans do not work and people ended up becoming fatter.

Increasing your body’s basal metabolic rate is yet another secret to successful weight loss. It is the minimum energy required by our body to function. Having a high basal metabolic rate will help us burn extra fats throughout the day, even when we are just sitting or lying around. So how do we go about increasing this metabolic rate? Well, there are actually 2 ways to go about doing it. One is to build muscles and the other will be to increase the endurance of our cardio vascular system. By building muscles, our body will be force to feed them with energy in order to maintain it. The third secret to successful weight loss is to be picky with foods. It is actually easier to lose weight by controlling what we eat. Avoid foods of high calories with little nutritional values.
