If a guy really likes you, he will ask for your phone number - right? Not always. Some guys are very shy and intimidated by girls, especially ones they really like. There are ways to tell if that guy likes you without him actually saying anything straight out.

Guys will start hanging around the places that they know you are going to be, like your favourite coffee shop, your gym, or your library. They want to give themselves the opportunity to bump into you and to help you begin to see them as part of your life. They may even take up salsa dancing or gymnastics if they know it is one of your passions.

This helps them build up a friendship connection with you and get more confident about talking to you. Then, guys who like you will ask for your number and they will call you. If you don't give out the number, they will find it somehow – ask your friends, look in the phone book, google you, or go through your garbage – but they will find a way to contact you.

Once they have made contact with you, you know a guy likes you if they won't let you go without making sure he will see you again soon. Setting up another time to talk or meet you will be very important to him. This is a guy who is interested in a deeper relationship with you.

Guys who invite you to come and see their band might like you, or they might just want to have a good audience for their next gig. Guys who really like you will invite you out on a date or to come out and meet his friends. Guys who are letting you meet the important people in their lives are telling you that they want you to know more about them.

Gifts can be difficult to judge as an indicator of a guy liking you. There many differences between cultures, and even between families, about when it is appropriate to give a gift and what kind of gift to give. It is best to just thank the guy for thinking of you and let him know that you appreciate the gift.

You can ask his friends if he likes you, or even ask your friends to find out for you. However, if you have to resort to this tactic, it is a pretty safe bet that he likes you, but not enough to risk telling you and getting rejected. Some guys like to keep their options open by being evasive, but when a guy really likes you, he will not mess around and risk missing his chance.

The ultimate test to find out whether a guy likes you is to come right out and ask him. To generalize, guys have trouble putting their emotions into words, especially when they are put on the spot. But if the guy in question really likes you, he will tell you how he feels, even if it comes out a little awkwardly.
