It was in the year 1939 that it all began. It was the beginning of something that would take place over the next 6 years, and sadly, take the lives of many people. During these six long years people would loose sons, fathers, uncles, brothers, and friends. People who had gone out to defend their country; ones who died patriotically, and who will never be forgotten.
It was in 1939 on September 1st when Germany unsuspectingly invaded Poland. This marked the beginning of the Second World War, a war which would end up taking place throughout Europe, Africa, and even Asia. A mere two days after the invasion, France and England had joined in the war against Germany, and within a week other countries such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa had all become involved in the war. Hitler, the leader of Germany at the time, however had a different, hidden agenda, and trying to fool them informed them that he agreed with a peace treaty being signed. While this was taking place Hitler had ordered his troops to move towards France, as he intended to take over France as well. Hitler was becoming over-zealous and his generals informed him that they believed it impossible to take over France and that it could only take over Belgium and Holland. Not knowing what to do and what should be done, many thought that the war was over, due to the inactivity of the various nations.
On November 30, the Soviet Union went
