The power of forgiveness is an exceptional quality.
It is a power that Jesus and the angels were supposed to have. Never underestimate the force it will take to let go of an action another has negativley influenced upon you.
You can say you forgive someone a thousand times, that doesn't mean you have.
It is what you feel inside that counts. The first hurdle i believe is to eliminate the temptation of revenge. Accept how you feel, acknowledge the pain and imagine how wrong it would be to pass it back to someone else.
If they have a conscious they will feel enough pain in the wrong they have initially done you.
Realise that they cannot change the past only the way they treat and respect you in the past and the present.
Also it does yourself no good to harber the hurt you feel. So forgive them and release the anger and negativity.
After all, "he who is without sin, may cast the first stone"
