If I had a choice, if I could choose to stand at the pearly gates and have God say to me "What have you done with the time I gave you? How did you live your life? What have you brought to the world?" I would like to be able to say, "Lord, I did the best I could with what I knew. I loved, laughed and brought joy to others. I took risks and had adventures and tried to see all the beauty in the world you created for us. But most importantly I inspired others to love, laugh and live for themselves. I took all that you gave me and showed people a better way to live."
I would want to be remembered as a person who inspired others that it is ok to be who you are. To be true to what's inside. I would want to be remembered for someone who taught the world that it is ok to be flawed, and ok to make mistakes. It is ok to stumble, even to fall. It's ok to hurt, and to sometimes hurt others. Its is ok to be wrong and ok to feel down. These things are a part of who you are and to deny them and their existence is to deny a part of yourself. But in spite of these things, or perhaps because of them, you must never forget to cling to the good. Never to judge, or blame. To forgive yourself of your mistakes and to forgive others of theirs. To learn to live each day as a better version of yourself. To keep going when you stumble, to get up when you fall. To heal when you need too and allow others to do the same. Make corrections when you are wrong and look up when you feel down. There is always something better, some beauty to be recognized. You cannot help who you are but you can change who you are going to be. You can wake up everyday living the best life you can possibly live.
This is it. This is all we get. Help others; give. Love your family; kiss your kids. Read a book ; say a prayer. Beauty and knowledge are our tools for a great life. Live for yourself and shine that love back into the world. Bad things happen but you have the power to rise up and succeed in the face of adversity. I want to inspire those around me to live like I do, making life easier for even one person. Good will conquer evil if we focus our energies towards positive change. You can do something about it and that change starts with yourself.
If I can inspire you to find the beauty and bring that beauty to others then I know what my conversation with God will be when I die. If I can inspire others to inspire others then my life is a success. Now its up to you. What will your conversation with God be?
