The importance of personal freedom in your choice of work

Personal freedom in your choice of work is very important. You may not always like the job you are doing, but the choice was yours to do the work. We are much happier people when we have the personal choice of where we do it. That is the way all of life works, isn’t it? We may not always like what we are doing, but when we get to choose what we are doing, it makes all the difference in the world.

It is obvious that not everyone can choose to do whatever they wanted to when it comes to a career. Not everyone has the aptitude to do every job that is available. Everyone does have options though. We can choose a career based on pay rate or benefits. We might choose to work in a factory so that we can make enough money to pay the bills. You can be happy doing any type of work if you are the one that chose to do it.

If you had someone tell you what work you had to do in order to make a living, it takes away that personal choice that is so important to us. Personal choice gives us to freedom to choose and decide where we will be spending our days and how we spend those days. Personal choice gives you the freedom to leave a job that you are unsatisfied with and find one that is more suited to your personality.

Freedom of personal choice gives us options. Being told what we have to do in order to make a living makes the work, no matter what it is, drudgery. You might run into the problem of a parent who wishes for their child to follow in their footsteps and takes away that child’s right to choose his career path. Other parents want better for their children and insist that the college education that their child receives must be in a particular field of work. This also takes away personal freedom of choice in the workforce.

You should never force anyone to take a career path simply because that is what you want. Suggesting it is one thing. Forcing them to do it is another. You have to let everyone make their own choices when it comes to how they will work for the rest of their lives so that they will be successful at it simply because it is what they chose to do rather than it being forced on them.

Everyone has a different calling when it comes to work. Some people love physical work while others prefer desk jobs. Some people want to help others while others want to crunch numbers. Each person has to have the freedom of choice when it comes to work for true satisfaction and success.
