Looking for love. Like looking for Mr. Goodbar. Or looking for my keys, most days.
Looking for anything is a bit like a watched pot never boiling. Makes it much harder to find- if at all.
When I actually “look” for things I generally find other stuff. Crap, really. Why am I keeping all these random extra buttons, anyways? Or this pile of twisted twist-ties? Being a pack-rat runs in the family.
But, I digress. What was I looking for again? Oh right- Mr. Right.
What does he look like? Might be a sensible place to start. Let’s make a list of the necessary Mr. Right physical/intellectual/emotional qualities.
1. He needs to be taller than me- even when I where my super high one inch heels.
2. Closer to my age than my daughters’ age (the reverse also applies to my daughters’ dating rules)
3. An excellent sense of humor (i.e. loves British humor, but juvenile potty humor, not so much)
4. Loves to travel on a whim (having his own plane would give him extra points)
5. Owns a winery somewhere in Europe, or maybe the Texas Hill Country
6. Can handle game night with three competitive females with grace and charm.
7. Is an excellent cook (bonus if he also likes all those other domestic things, too)
8. Does not have crazy family that don’t mix well with my crazy family
9. Likes to make the call to order pizza
10. And of course, has a smile that melts my heart every time
Those cover the absolute must-haves. Add to the mix the usual: tall, blonde and handsome, not wanting financially, and thinks I’m the best thing out there since the iPhone, and we should be good to go.
I feel much better now- having put all that down in black and white- and out in the universe. Now I just have to find him. But without actually looking for him- remember the watched pot?
So, I am certain that he will read this and feel the connection- the sense of “she’s the ONE”. And then, he’ll be on his way to rescue me from my average life of mediocrity.
He should be knocking on my door any time now.
Right about now…
Well, I think he is probably having a hard time finding my house, especially since my neighborhood is so new it doesn’t show up on Mapquest yet.
I’ll give him a few more hours…or days…heck, even months.
Or, I’ll just keep looking.
