The truth about making money writing online

Making money writing online is not something new as many people are already earning a substantial amount of money just by sharing their views and knowledge. Just take Helium for example, you can see an exponential increase in the number of articles publishing daily. It is indeed proven and I have been getting good income from online writing since I started sometime in the year 2007.

However, the truth is, it did not start off as smoothly as what I had in mind previously. Earning online is not an easy task with so many scams lurking around. In the beginning, I was afraid of not getting paid. After getting to know more about how online freelance writing works, I became more confident and started to write more articles. Examples of websites that pay online freelance writers to submit articles are Helium, Associated Contents and Triond.

After writers find their preferred sites to submit their articles, they begin to publish articles and then, hope that it will earn them good income. Most often than not, writers will worry about one thing and that is 'traffic'. Traffic is the most important contributing factor to earn online when it comes to online freelance writing. All, if not most such paid-to-write websites pay writers based on visits by netizens, so that makes traffic really important here. This means that writing the best and grammatically perfect articles would not made you good income. It really depends fully on the traffic the articles can generate. Typically, writers may have written tons of articles, but the earnings generate are sadly less than a dollar a month. And this is really common. The problem lies with the lack of ability to generate good traffic.

Knowing how to boost traffic may not necessary resulted in good readership. Knowledge on the Internet is scattered around and it is up to this netizens around the world to stumble onto your articles through search engines. The articles have to possess a relative standard in order for the author to survive in this online writing scene. Which means, if your articles were written for the sake of submitting, these articles could get deleted and in worst scenario, you may even get banned from writing on that website.

Usually writers would try to look around the Internet for what is popular for ideas to write on. But for me, I would usually check Google Trend, a tool that could generate a set of popular search words to get idea on what to write on. I have found this method comparatively effective.
