10. Casanova Frankenstein MYSTERY MEN
Geoffrey Rush as one of the most humorous villains ever depicted in a superhero film. He has a great fashion sense and he doesn't mind killing his nemesis when it best suits him.

9. Doctor Doom THE FANTASTIC FOUR
Julian McMahon performance was superb but he doesn't embody the personae of Doom until the end of the film this prevents him from being placed higher on the list.

8. The Penguin BATMAN RETURNS
Danny DeVito is just rotten to the core as one of Batman's greatest rogue's gallery members. What truly makes the character stay with you after the film and is how sympathetic the film's portrayal of the character is verses the television series' version which is achieved through DeVito's performance even through all the make up.

7. Typhoid Mary ELEKTRA
Natassia Malthe as Daredevil's most tragic villainess was a tad watered down in the Elektra film but is still one of the best female villains to grace a superhero film.

6. Deacon Frost BLADE
Stephen Dorff stole al,ost every scene he was in as the ultimate Blade villain. Not even the uber-vamps of BLADE 2 can rival Dorff's Frost who is just as dynamic a character as Blade himself.

5. Lex Luther SUPERMAN RETURNS
Kevin Spacey is magnificent as Superman's nemesis but because he is over shadowed by that other guy who played him Spacey is not higher on the list. Still, Spacey brings a lot to the role and I look forward to seeing what he does with it in the sequel.

5. Mystique X-MEN/ X2: X-MEN UNLIMITED
The best female villain of any superhero film. Other than Wolverine she was the reason to watch the first X-Men film. Her character was only enhanced in the second film (and we won't mention the debacle that was that third film). As depicted by Rebecca Romijn she brought the comic book character to brilliant life which didn't work for many of the other characters in the films.

4. Doc Ock SPIDER-MAN 2
Alfred Molina as Doc Ock is by far one of the most sympathetic villains ever committed to film. At times he seems more human than Peter Parker himself as Molina's performance is a testament to just how perfect he was for the role.

3. Magneto X-MEN
Ian McKellen as one of Marvel-dom's greatest villains. The only problem is that the second film is immensely better than the first film but he doesn't do much in it. All his good scenes are in the first film which is anything but great, but he still deserves to be on this list in the position he is. Why? Because he's Ian McKellen that's why!

2. The Joker BATMAN
Two words. Jack. Nicholson. Need I say more? He was the best actor for Batman's first serious film and most iconic villain. He played the character to it most vilest and most maniacal (the Hannibal Lector of superhero films). His gift of presence and flare only matched by Michael Keaton's dark brooding Dark Knight allowing both to be equally dynamic and interesting. Plus he danced to Prince in the museum scene. What more can you ask for?

1. Lex Luthor SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE
The world's smartest, most maniacal, sadistic, and ego-maniacal genius as played by Gene Hackman, but it is in this original film where he shines and brings true pathos to the one villain that has bested Superman on numerous occasions. And he has no super powers whatsoever. It is his mind which makes him the greatest cinematic super villain ever presented in a superhero film.
