One of the first ways to show you are a responsible young adult is to venture out and experience babysitting as one of your first jobs. Whether it is babysitting your younger brother or sister at home or a watching a child for a neighbor while they run to the store; babysitting can teach you many things. You can learn how to care for others, how to manage the money you earn and how good it is to help others even when money is not involved. It will help you become a better person while teaching you responsibility.

Babysitting is a very important job.  It requires patience, caring and trust. When you are asked to babysit it means that the person who is asking actually trusts you to care for their child. You can be a great helper to your mom or dad by taking care of your brother or sister when they ask you for your help.  It is a great way to help out your parents when they are busy just like the way they help you when you are in need. Helping other people can make you feel great on the inside because you are doing something good for another person.  You will have the chance to share all of the good qualities you have while babysitting others.

When you are babysitting you might read a book, play a game or watch television together. It's important not to fight or yell at the younger child; but to be gentle and kind. You will get to practice this when you start babysitting.  You can also practice a lot of the things you learn in school like following rules, being kind and responsible. Just like your teacher in school helps you learn; you can be like a teacher while you are babysitting and helping to take care of another.  You never know, you may want to care for people as a profession when you are older.

Learning how to take care of other people is a great quality in life.  Remember, babysitting isnt just sitting there and watching the child do what they want but watching over them to be sure they stay safe.  Sharing your time with the younger child you are baysitting is very important so they feel  special, and cared for while you are with them.
