They were the perfect couple,
he dark and she fair,
Or was it the other way?
They were the perfect couple,
young lovers sharing a kiss,
Never knowing the watching artist
would go home that night and try to paint
those two kissing lovers as Eros and Psyche.
They were the perfect couple,
Middle aged, newly in love,
Strong and sure after many loves,
Walking hand in hand on the beach,
Never knowing the photographer
taking pictures of the ocean
would snap one of them and always think,
"That's the perfect couple I saw
walking on the beach."
They were the perfect couple,
Old, both with gray hair
and sparkling eyes
that shone for each other
after all these years.
Was it fifty years? Or only two?
They are the perfect couple,
always, in the snapshot moment
that graces the album
of another's memory.

The perfect couple
Like fire and ice
LIke fish and chips
Like blood and water
We fit together
We fit like a jigsaw
