Mixed Martial Arts is NOT human cockfighting, it is very easy to throw in the towel on MMA. It's easy to watch a gruesome, bloody fight and yell that it is just like a chicken fight, but it isn't. It has been proving that boxing is much more dangerous. Boxing you go out and get hit in specifically the face for twelve straight rounds, three minutes each round. Most boxers also fight around fifty fights in their professional career, that is excluding their amateur career.
In mma you fight three five minute rounds or five five minute rounds, depending on if it is a title fight or not. People love to jump all over mma for having bloody fights and horrible cuts, but I have seen worse in Boxing, and no one cares. I love both boxing and mma, and believe both are great sports and neither are wrong.
MMA is very well sanctioned when you think of companies like DREAM, Strikeforce, and UFC. When saying that, people begin to claim what about the backyard MMA matches that go to far and people get hurt. There has never been a very severe injury or death in the UFC, the most highly regarded of all MMa companies. Also, there are more backyard boxing matches then anything else. Theres nothing like a good ole barbecue, cousins decide to box. They are beautiful, funny, and very fun to watch.
MMA is not human cockfighting, these people are talented and know exactly what they are doing. Just like boxing, there is a science or art to MMA. The jiu jitsu aspect of mma is brilliant and simply amazing to watch. I love watching a great gogoplata or omoplata. The wrestling these guys do is also great to watch. Theres not much better than a great double leg takedown. The judo aspect is one of my favorites, I love watching Georges St. Pierre swing people around like it is nothing. Then of course the boxing and kickboxing they put on is awesome as well.
There are so many different aspect to MMA, and these guys are very intelligent people. Listen to these guys talk and then listen to some old boxers, like Lennox Lewis. I would have to say that Randy Couture and Kenny Florian are better commentators and speakers than Lennox Lewis will ever be.
There is alot of blood in MMA, but this is what these guys love to do. They take the risk of stepping into the octagon, cage, or ring and they know what mighthappen. In cockfighting, those chickens do not exactly have a choice other than to fight. In MMA the fighters make that choice, and so far I've enjoyed every last bit of it.
