Poker is a unpredictableand and sometimes difficult game to play, ex specially when money is on the line. Poker is a little bit or strategy and a whole lot of luck. In poker your starting hand is not real important, it is the five cards they lay down for you to play off. There are several times when a five-two off suit has been a ace - king on suit. It is mainly about luck
In saying that, one of the best hands in Texas hold em is the ace-king on suit. It provides you so many different opportunities to win the hand. You have two very high cards, so if it comes down to who has the higher cards, you got them beat. It also gives you a head start on a flush draw. If they are both the same suit, if you are lucky enough to get three more, out of the five cards laid down, then you have flush and a most likely victory. Then finally you have a straight draw, this would be a very high straight and would be a very good hand to bet upon. There is also a chance of a Royal Flush which is the best hand in poker, and can not be beaten. It is where you have a ace, king, queen, jack, and ten and they are all the same suit. This has a very small chance of ever occurring, but with ace-king on suit you are closer than anyone else.
It is always good to get pocket something. Getting pockets, is when you receive two of the same card in your hand It gives you a head start, where you can bet to see who wants to challenge it. The higher the pair the more you would bet or stay in the hand. For example, pocket twos are not worth putting much in for, they are just a step better than a high card, but pocket jacks is a very good hand to go in with.
Everyone knows of the famous pocket rockets, where you receive two aces in your hand on the deal. This is worth alot, and can pay off. Although, you have to remember to be careful with them. People often bet all they got on these cards just to lose, pay attention and don't just keep on betting on the aces alone they can be beaten.
