Let's consider what is death. The physical body decays and dies. When the spirit leaves the physical body at death, there is no doubt about the death of that body. It is no longer animated by any breath of life. Without the animating force within the body, it immediately begins to decay. Without the embalming process the body is not fit to be seen.
The spirit is eternal. It is the animating principle within all life. It is the storehouse of our complete life and all its learned lessons in the earth life.
We are made up of body, mind, spirit. In the physical body we understand our material lives and all that we can accomplish in our body.
In the spirit is the stored lessons that life accumulates. It is the eternal part of our being and continues into the afterlife following death.
The mind governs all and is available in the physical body within the brain. But it is also available in the spirit body as memory and information gathering consciousness.
Each aspect of the human being is constructed on an energy vibration. The material body is gross matter fit for the existence on the earth plane gross energies. The spirit within has a finer vibration that exists beyond the earth plane. And the mind works with both to accumulate memory of all the lessons of life.
At the death of the body, when the silver cord of existence is cut and the spirit is set free of the body, the mind comes together as total mind to take us forward into the new vibration totally. There is no gross material energy to hold us in the body. We continue to exist in spirit vibration.
Jesus was a human being that also endured these vibrational changes. In the first few days, the spirit wishes to see those they have left behind and maybe even communicate their goodbyes. The spirit can be seen on the earth plane because of its attachment to the gross material energies.
You will remember that the disciples were cautioned to not touch Jesus when he was in this state. The spirit's finer vibrations are tenuous and they are actually in the process of going into the spirit vibration for existence.
The first stop in spirit is to go into the light and meet/greet those that have gone before. But we do release ourselves from those we love on the earth plane. And sometimes these goodbyes are emotional so the spirit accumulates the energies of their loved ones to take on into spirit realms.
