Humanism disguised as the Gospel
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of GOD: not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8, 9)
There it is in plain English, yet many of us in the religious Christian world still do not understand the simplicity in the above mentioned verses; because for one it’s too simple for our mind to grasp the components of grace knowing that it's literally impossible for anyone even GOD to be that good. However, notice that the reason why we are saved by grace is because GOD in His eternal wisdom is taking the ability for man to boast or brag away from man. God knew that if salvation did not come through grace being a free gift that GOD gives, man would try and take the credit for it and continuously brag as if man could save himself. For this very reason I have hard time with preachers who teach that salvation can be lost through the workings of man, because man does not even have the power to save himself let alone remain saved through our own human efforts.
See whenever I talk about ‘once saved always saved’ those who disagree always begin their argument with man. They say, “You mean to tell me that a man can rob a bank and kill some people and still be saved?” Notice that the disagreement is always about what man can and cannot do; yet salvation is a gift from GOD done by GOD for man. From this I understand that these believers, preachers, and teachers who believe that salvation can be lost are looking at salvation from the perspective of man (humanism), but the truth of the gospel deals with what GOD can and has already done for man at the cross. Humanism by definition rejects supernaturalism (which is the power of GOD), and deals with the notion that man in and of himself can solve the problems of man through human effort, or human will power.
Salvation is always about the power of GOD and what GOD can do, which man cannot do in and of himself. When we are otherwise minded we are preaching condemnation from the perspective of will power and the strength of man. These kinds of false teachings pressure people to do only what GOD can do, and they themselves who advocate humanism have forgotten that it was GOD who delivered them from their sinful lifestyle, and it's only through the grace and power of GOD that they remain delivered, saved, righteous, and sanctified.
