Poetry: Resurrection

Father knows

Father, you know me

You gave me the dream

But folks of religion

Are not what they seem?

I follow your Light

In this dry barren place

With eyes to the sun

The wind in my face.

Have faith my child

I’m with you still

Come follow the Way

Up yonder hill.

Just knowing you, Father

And all that I’ve heard

Assures me completely

You keep your word.

Father you know me

I pray without ceasing

My legs have grown weary

The wind is increasing.

We’re here, my child

You’ve climbed up the hill

Spread wide your arms

And hold them still.

Your Father knows

Beginning and end

The Son in your eyes

Has been your friend.

With arms open wide

Receive your gift

Oh weary pilgrim

You need a lift.

Lean into the wind

As heaven sings

Rise up, my child

You’ve earned your wings.

By His right hand

Does He bequeath

To rule forever

The world beneath
