So you want to be creative when you are writing factual articles? Just because something is factual doesn't mean that you can't present those topics in a manner that is creative and pleasing to the eye and the audience. In fact, being creative is really what makes learning fun, and the style that you use is how you are going to really get your audience to read what you have to say. It doesn't matter what topic you are writing on because there are many ways to be creative when you write.
You could try to put the audience in the shoes of the people that you are writing about if you are writing about history for example. Try to really show what it felt like to be George Washington fighting for the independence of America, and what it was like to have nothing but principles and ambition guiding you. A lot of people can relate to that believe it or not. There are many in America who are losing homes and ways of life that could use a story like that.
The same can be said for anything that you write. If you are writing about the recent recession you might want to present the facts in a lighter tone. People know what happened, but they might not fully grasp the entire situation. This is a topic that has a lot of misleading stereotypes thrown around about it. For example, it wasn't the poor who bought too much on credit, it was actually a lot of middle class people who were using their homes at ATM machines. You might want to play on that irony when you are writing about that.
Write something that is going to be easy to read and in a format that you can feel comfortable writing in. If you want to write using graphs and short paragraphs to get your point across then so be it. It might be easier to write and to read if it is in short bursts of information that will get the reader to pay attention to what you are writing.
Getting creative is all about what you are willing to put into your work. If you are writing about a factual event, it might be a good idea to write about an entertaining event to get yourself to be creative. If it is something that you like to write about it might allow you to write in a manner that is going to be a little outside the box. Writing about the Grammy's or the Super Bowl might be a good place to write in a more creative style.
When you are writing a creative piece it isn't a bad idea to get a little creative and to think about what the audience wants. A sentence that reads like "I know what you are all thinking, that the Saints had no chance to win the Super Bowl by two touchdowns" is a lot easier to read than "The Saints won the Super Bowl by two touchdowns" because the first has a voice to it. Add your voice and you will know how to get creative with it.
