How do ancient commandments fit into our modern lifestyle and are the 10 commandments relative and even regarded anymore? Well this is my version of the 10 commandments, not in any order of importance:
Commandment 1: Be true to yourself.
This means do not follow what others want you to do, feel your own inner strength and power and use your naturally creative self to be the best that you truly are.
Commandment 2: Suspend judgement.
People act and react to you in different ways according to whatever is going on in their life. Do not assume that when some acts in a specific way they are showing you who they really are. Give them a break and allow their true self to shine for you.
Commandment 3: Give of yourself.
No matter how simple, just give. Whether it is a smile in an elevator or helping an elderly person with their shopping or funding a giant charitable organisation; you can always give somewhere and in some way.
Commandment 4: Support each other.
We are all in this together, so support each other as we work our way through this harsh environment. Don’t destroy someone else’s dream; instead, encourage anyone who wants to make a difference.
Commandment 5: Don’t compare.
Just because someone else seems to have more, do not let that affect you. Don’t judge yourself as failing because you seem to have less. If you want more then go out and do something about it.
Commandment 6: Laugh at least once a day.
Laughter is a great exercise; watch a comedy or listen to stand-up or meet up with friends but make sure you laugh at least once a day.
Commandment 7: Turn sentences into the positive.
Rather than always regurgitating bad news or negative phrases, start a habit of giving everything a positive spin. Even in the hardest of times there are opportunities for light.
Commandment 8: Stop procrastinating.
If there is something that you want to do or achieve then start now. The smallest steps will lead to your life goals; so get walking.
Commandment 9: Release the past.
You are here now, in the present moment. You can start your new life today; you are more than what has happened to you, you are who you are right now.
Commandment 10: Be kind.
Even when you feel like raging, be kind. Even when you feel like getting revenge, be kind. Even when you feel like causing harm, be kind. It can take just one simple act of kindness to shift the balance towards the light. Turn on the light right now.
