Working mothers don't necessarily raise working daughters. They raise strong, determined daughters. No matter what the daughter of a working mother does with her life, she will have been led by strength and courage. Mothers who work outside the home are often driven by determination, and they often demonstrate the strength to command respect in a world still run by men. Daughters of working mothers can recognize these attributes in their mothers.

The daughter of a woman who works outside the home learns to multitask. She watches her mother command a double life. One life consists of compassion, love, and caring for a family. The other life demands respect, structure, and discipline. A working mother's daughter watches her mom multitask. She notices her mom go to work every day, yet still have enough time left to be there for her daughter. A working mother's daughter does not fail to notice mom not only maintains the backbone of the family, she also helps uphold the family's budget.

A working mother's daughter realizes mom has done exactly what mom wants to do with her life. The daughter of the working woman is statistically more likely to go to work, however, daughter will realize through watching mom that she can accomplish what she wants in life. If the daughter would like to go to college, she will, and she will tackle the task with a sense of determination. However, if daughter is not interested in the working world, she will embrace her status, as a stay at home mom or elsewhere, because she understands the value of multitasking. Whatever task the working mother's daughter tackles in her lifetime, she will have a model of strength from her mother.

Working mothers need to maintain a balance of nurture with a component of muscle. Dealing with the corporate world, which is still highly run by men, requires a strength beyond that required within the home. Being a mother requires a nurturing aspect which cannot be brought into the boardroom. Working mothers demonstrate to their daughters the balance between these worlds, demonstrating to their daughters the tools needed to survive in any of the daughter's life obstacles.

A working mother does not necessarily raise a working daughter. A working mother raises a woman with strength, courage, determination, love, compassion, and an ability to multitask. The woman armed with these skills does whatever she wants in life. The daughter of a working mother understands mom can be in many places at once, and a woman's ability to care for many different lives other than her own is what makes a woman shine. A working mother teaches her daughter to shine, but not necessarily to work. A working mother teaches her daughter to be the best at whatever she does, whether she chooses to work or to pursue other life avenues.
