Blender reviews: VitaMix 1320

Created on: February 08, 2010

The VitaMix 1320 is a multi-tasking kitchen appliance that is not just a blender.  The VitaMix 1320 easily handles the work of several appliances.  It can be used to puree, chop, juice, grind and more, all using a single versatile machine.  It features a laser-cut, one piece, stainless-steel, all-metal blade assembly.  The blender has a 2-plus peak horsepower motor that generates blade speeds of up to 240 MPH.   The appliance measures 20-1/2 by 7-1/4 by 8-3/4 inches and comes with an oversized 64-ounce polycarbonate container with soft touch handle.

Ordinary blenders do not approach the speed or results that can be obtained using the powerful VitaMix machine.  Like no other similar kitchen appliance available, the Professional Series VitaMix 1320, can be used to create dishes the way professional chefs do.

The appliance, available in silver, comes with a recipe book containing over 300 full-color, easy-to-follow, step-by-step recipes and tips from top-rated chefs and with an instructional DVD and owner's manual.  The unit carries a 7-year warranty limited warranty.

With a list price of $599, the VitaMix 1320 is more expensive than other options, but quite possibly the best blender on the market.

Pros

The VitaMix 1320 is a professional grade appliance offering the ability to blend, puree, chop, juice, grind and more using one single versatile machine.  The blender has a heavy-duty motor with a heavier core and windings which means the motor stand up well to heavy use without breaking down.  VitaMix enjoys a reputation for superb customer service and if there is a problem with a VitaMix appliance, the shipping both ways for warranty work is included.

Cons

At a list price of $599, the VitaMix 1320 is expensive in comparison to other blenders on the market and the cost may be more than some are willing to pay unless a particularly heavy-duty, professional grade blender is needed.  The blenders are tall to fit under many typical kitchen cabinets and are loud very loud in operation.  Owners report that replacement containers are also expensive to purchase.
