With unemployment still at very high numbers, more people are turning to job search engines on the internet to help them find a job. In addition, countless others are depending on job search engines to assist them in their search for new jobs, jobs that are more local or better paying jobs. For those who are interested in using job search engines on the internet, the following are considered the top job search engines.
Monster - Independent research conducted by Consumer Research reveals that Monster is one of the top job search engines on the internet. Monster has some distinct advantages over other job search engines, (a) it is one of the best known, and (b) you can find upwards of one million job listings. Monster provides you the ability to block your current employer from seeing your resume posted on Monster. One disadvantage of Monster is that it does not allow easy filtering and you may have to wade through some bad job openings to find good ones.
Yahoo! HotJobs - In October of 2007, the Wall Street Journal discussed several online job search engines. Survey numbers showed that while super sites like Monster are better known to the general public, sites like Yahoo! Hot Jobs continue to add new subscribers. This top job search engine allows you to create filters, block companies you do not want to see your resume and also allows you to see how many times your resume has been viewed by potential employers and recruiters. You will not find as many postings as you will at Monster but many consider them to be of higher quality due to the various filters that are used.
Dice - If you are an Information Technology specialist, Dice would be considered the top job search engine on the internet. According to PC Magazine, Dice is one of the best forums for those with IT background. Users of Dice will find not only IT jobs, but can also post their resume, get career advice and use the forum to network with others who are seeking jobs or already working in the IT field.
Simply Hired - Simply Hired was one of the top job search engines listed in the "Best of the Web 2008" by Business Week. A quick review of this top job search engine reveals that it is easy to use, breaks job openings down by category and offers the user a variety of tools. These tools are designed to help job seekers be more successful. Simply Hired also lists a number of legitimate telecommute positions for those who are seeking work at home opportunities without the need to wade through countless numbers of potentially fraudulent job openings.
Career Builder - Like other job search engines, Career Builder offers a variety of tools for those who are seeking jobs. The opportunity to post your resume, combined with a variety of user tools that can help you improve your resume. One of the best features of this job search engine is their advanced search which allows you to filter jobs based on very specific criteria, including the weather. Many users of Career Builder have written reviews and they show a 2.5 out of a possible 5 rating, indicating that this job search engine may not be right for everyone.
Summary
