How motherhood changes a woman

Motherhood is one of the greatest gifts the Lord has given to all women. I say that it is a gift to all, because I believe that there is a mum in all of us. I consider myself lucky to have been given the chance to experience the miracle of conceiving a child on my womb and later on giving birth to him. But like what I’ve said, there is a mum in all of us. You may not experience what I have been through but you have been a mum in so many ways as well. You may be a mum to your adopted kids. You may be a mum to your students. You may even be a mum to your pets!

Last night I was able to watch a TV show that presented the case of a conjoined twin that was miraculously separated. Their real mum abandoned them in an orphanage but two women went out of their way to show love and care. The result? A big difference! The twins now made medical history because they are now separated from one another and they have surpassed all the surgeries and all near-death experiences in their journey. All because someone, even if it they were not her real children, showed genuine love and care.

Women are transformed into better individuals when they become a mum. The responsibility given to them to take care of the kids (students or pets at that) is not seen as a duty. They wake up early, cook breakfast, give them a bath, feed them, shop for them, put them to sleep, discipline them, teach them, not because they ought to, but because they love to. They put everyone else ahead of them. If you decide to become one, be ready as motherhood is not really a bed of roses. Some days are not perfect, there are trials, and mums seem to get tired and would like to give up sometimes, but motherhood gives them the push. Motherhood inspires them to go on.  Motherhood gives them faith that all will be well and soon things will all fall into place.

Consider yourself lucky and blessed when you are given that chance to become a mum. Consider yourself lucky because you get to experience a transformation beyond compare. Your life will have a new meaning. Your life will have a new purpose. Your life will never be the same again.
