Understanding people who 'walk the fence' on the pro-life debate

Pro-Life vs. Pro-Choice?

The great thing about both arguments is neither will result with a conclusion with one or the other party converting or retreating to the opposed. This topic has always given me some form of discomfort, in terms of abortion and capital punishment, leaving me debating myself often times. With each argument I find loop holes and fallacies. The validity of ones argument to the next, usually lacks strength and reasoning. Most people on these topic use hear-say or raw emotion to express their feelings or use others words as their own to make a point.

I am not trying to bring anyone down or their passion on these two incredibly hard issues, because when it all comes down to me and my argument, I feel minuscule in the scheme of things too. There are exceptions it seems to all of the rules or all of the circumstances... girls being raped at the age of twelve and having complications of physically bearing a child, not to mention the emotional stress and the constant reminder of the events that had taken place. I couldn't imagine what that girl felt... her innocence taken from her...

But, in the same respect people make this decision willingly, as far as intercourse goes, and the repercussions for their choices should not directly affect that of another being or fetus.

This brings me to the fence in which I sit, and I ponder the arguments... getting into the debates of Roe vs. Wade... the decision on who is to tell when life begins for a child or as a human being. There are arguments about the ability to reason, but the fallacy is simply a result of mental retardation.. being able to decipher right from wrong and understanding everyday situations is a task for people with less chromosomes.

As far as capital punishment goes.. people argue about tax dollars. The fact that it actually costs more to execute a person than to give them life in prison. People argue about having the ability to end someones life according to a trial of their peers and the county/state/federal court system. Like abortion there are loop holes in the court system and flaws in human intuition as well as decision making... do people honestly always get a free trial? Who are we or they to decide a mans fate based on his/her actions... Saying we incriminate the correct person(s) involved in the crime. Round and round the arguments fly... we as citizens unfortunately decided long ago that our form of government and judicial standards are the best available. Thus, when these decision are made we are more times often that not, unable to sustain harmony on either side of this fence!

Other arguments are based on religious beliefs and moral value... topics that are now-a-days even harder to put forth in a courtroom or as a protest against either subject. The further ahead we move as a country, the further we are choosing to turn from God and religion it seems... sad and ironic... for it was those beliefs that gave us a set of rules and a firm foundation for the country in which we live. Those set of rules gave us the freedom to do what we are doing right now...

When it actually all comes down to it...and my decision to hop down from the post on this fence, I find myself afraid... afraid to choose one way or the other and I wonder if it is my decision to make or should I leave it in the hands of the governing or the hands of the person(s) who have the child... or is it in Gods hands and is He the ultimate judge... questions with really no answers that are valid enough to make a conclusion.... at least for myself anyways...
