Poetry: The perfect couple

by Kat Ballew

Created on: February 08, 2010

The perfect couple, everyone said,
That magical day in which they were wed.
It seems like yesterday but yet,
Six decades ago, it was instead.

Childhood sweethearts, the story goes,
King and queen of the prom, everyone knows.
College separated them for four years,
But their love lasted, through heartache and tears.

Along came babies, one, two, three and four,
Precious ones, everyone did adore.
Hard times and heartaches, tears and joy,
Through the test of fate, their love not destroyed.

The perfect couple, magical bliss,
Never going to bed angry, but instead with a kiss.
Respect and love, just like from day one,
Still like a honeymoon, and just as much fun.

Now holding hands, as everyone cheers,
The perfect couple, for all of these years.
Happy anniversary, happy Valentine’s Day too!
To Mom and Dad, whose love is still true.
