Predicting whether Labour will win the next election

In all elections you are elected on just a few things one good polices and the other is your leader. As it is almost impossible to say what are the big differences between the Labour party and the Conservative party. As ever since the labour party has come to power it seems to have been nothing like what it was expected to be like. All of the polices drifting to the centre right. So now the election will be fought out by the personality of the leader. And it is there that the Labour party has a problem.

Gordon Brown must regret the day that he finally decided that he would not go to the polls after he became leader of the Labour party. He had just taken the position that he had wanted for the past ten years and if he had gone to the people he probably could have won.

And that is the thing, he probably could have won but there was a doubt that he could have. David Cameron was a new and charismatic leader of the Conservative party but then did not look all that steady. After all another election and the classic European question would see that party split and fight amongst them selves. The Literal Democrats would pull all votes that would not go one way or another and the protest votes would go to all the small parties that could not hold a majority but might get the odd seat. After taking over from Tony Blair who had increasing unpopularity we are told by the electorate he could have won the general election.

But now what could happen. With out much fear of contradiction I think it is fair to say that he will lose the next election. And mainly for being the wrong man in the wrong job at the wrong time.

Gordon Brown does not come across well as a person. That is to say he comes across as a person who for the past ten years has been the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Here we got to know him as a man who did his job held the purse strings. He managed the economy while we all slowly got rich in one form or another. He spoke of prudence and gave the appearance of the man who new the cost of ever thing and its value as well.

Then he became leader and was obviously told that he must be more a people person. A big mistake as not only did it look as false as the joker of the Batman movie, this was then splashed all over the paper and every satirical news quiz and bingo and he now looks insincere.

Then to be in charge when the scandal of all the M.P. expenses starts to come out in the paper makes it all that much worse. To the man in the street who does not worry
