All of those work from home jobs you get unsolicited in your email are scams. There are so many people who need work these days and so many who would like to do that work from home that most of the people who need those kinds of workers don't have to advertise and they certainly don't need to get a whole lot of people of unknown qualifications showing up on their door steps.
On the bright side, it is still true that every job you can think of from tea taster and perfume smeller to beer drinker and professional talker exists somewhere in the world. And in some cases, the get paid pretty well. The problem is that most of the really good gigs are taken and the ones that are not taken have a line around the block of people applying for the same job. How do you jump to the head of line and get a job as a work at home admin?
Do you know Chinese? How about Korean? It just so happens that if you are fluent in a foreign language the line just got a little shorter for you. Given the business opportunities that are opening up in China, an experienced, bilingual executive secretary could get a job as a work from home secretary. In fact, if you think about it, an employer might rather you work from home so that things like the time difference don't come up. Instead of having to keep the lights burning and the heat on for an entire building, just so his secretary can nail down appointments and flight schedules in Beijing, he pays you to get up in the middle of the night, to take care of it.
This is one of those times with a little bit of initiative you can create a niche that only you know about. Now that you know that any business in America that needs an overseas agent might squawk at the expense and inconvenience, if you are fluent in a foreign language you can shop around a resume that tells people why all the smart businesses doing business in Poland or Korea or China, work with you. Fewer misunderstandings and more profitable business deals.
