How To Cope With Your Spouse Gone For The Holidays
The most precious moments spent together as a family are the holidays. It's a time when memories are made by sharing presents and filling the halls with laughter . Holidays can also be very depressing. Unfortunately for military families, a majority of special occasions are spent separated from their loved ones. It is the ultimate price that soldiers pay for serving their country.
In spite of that, life must continue. The first step to coping with a spouse who is gone for the holidays is to always preserve the condition of your body as well as your mind. Spouses are considered to be the glue that keeps the family together. He or she must stay strong or everything will falter.
Secondly , it is best to view at the situation for what it is; temporary. Deployment doesn't last forever. Eventually the moon will shift and so will the days. Days turn in to weeks, weeks into months and then the year would have gone as quickly as it arrived.
Thirdly , exchange conversations with your children. They aren't fools and are well aware of what's happening. Encourage them to express how they feel . In this way there are no repressed emotions to deal with later on. Also, be sure to continue planning family outings for the kids to partake in. Record or take pictures of them during these activities so your spouse doesn't feel left out.
Fourthly, remember to stay linked to your spouse at all times. It is best to have more than one method of communicating with your significant other. Depending on the location of where your partner is deployed you may or may not be able to use the phone as often. However there are many ways to keeping the communication flowing.
