Best weapons for use against zombies

Anyone wishing to join the fight against the Zombie Horde should pause, take a deep breath, and devise a strategy that will maximize their chances of victory and minimize their chances of dying a horrible, painful death. I have consulted with many experienced Zombie hunters who have been kind enough to share their stories as well as a few tips and tricks that will, hopefully, keep novice hunters alive or, at the very least, alive albeit with the inconvenience of missing a few limbs.

Before engaging in any type of battle, it is always a good idea to know exactly who or what you are going to be fighting. Learn everything you can about your opponents strengths, weaknesses, habits, and state of mind. The fact that Zombies possess unnatural levels of physical strength is well documented in the available research. Eye witness accounts tell of Zombies smashing through glass, steel, and even concrete to reach their victims. There is also enough evidence to suggest that a Zombie's sense of smell is twenty times more powerful than Homo Sapiens, enabling them to track warm-blooded prey over long distances. Thus a skilled Zombie hunter will take into account wind currents before closing in on a Zombie nest so as not to be given away by their scent. Staying downwind of Zombies is described by many hunters as "necessary but not fun" because while the Zombies can't smell you, you are most certainly able to smell them. In his book, Tales of the Apocalypse, Zombie researcher Jeffrey Storm describes in simple terms the odor of the undead, "It's bloody disgusting."

While a Zombie may possess above average physical abilities and senses, they are, as one Zombie hunter so eloquently observed, "lacking somewhat in the brains department." Dissections of Zombiefied brains reveal extensive atrophy in all regions responsible for language, impulse control, planning, and logic. Basically, every trace of humanity has been purged from the Zombie's mind, reducing it to a soulless monster driven by its insatiable hunger. Attempts to negotiate or reason with a Zombie will not work, nor will pleas for mercy be listened to. Their limited intelligence can work to a hunter's advantage, however, since they can often be lured into simple traps. In the collective work Zombie Survivor Stories, an ex marine explains how he was able to kill a Zombie by tossing it a live grenade. He says, "I threw the grenade at it, and I guess reflexes must've taken over, because the stupid thing actually caught the
