Night-peace falls short
even with squelched ears.
Medications don't  make me slumber
but their side effects are always there.
Morning marches in as marauder
who only sucks my strength
but leaves behind the contamination.
I try to keep the 'everything used'
contents of my condo clean
but it's worse for the wear.
My home is in a state
of desperate disrepair.

I can't afford to groom my babies,
or get them shots to prevent rabies.
Or get my mate a special dinner,
I get fatter while he gets thinner.
Batches of bills, not paid on time,
yet NOT paying taxes would be a crime.

God, help me care for myself and my spouse,
my dogs and my house,
to pay the bills and our income tax
At some point, I just want to RELAX!

I wanna nicer home, I wanna newer car,
I wanna be pretty and young again.
I wanna be an actress - no-
I wanna be a star!
And I wanna be rich by far!

Thank you, God,
for giving me a mate,
a place to live and play
and some money to pay,
and an old car that gets me far.

*
It's just human to want more than what you've got.
It's divine to except little and have thanks for a lot.
