The Whirlpool Gold GFE461LVT is a 30 inch free-standing, slide-in electric range with an expanded capacity 5.3 cubic foot convection oven featuring Whirlpool’s “AccuBake” temperature management system to promote even heat circulation throughout the oven for thorough cooking. The range console has four contoured push-in, rotary surface cooking control knobs, multi-function electronic oven control, hot surface indicator light, warm zone button and surface cooking area locator. 

The ceramic glass cooking surface features five electric elements, two six-inch single radiant elements, one dual radiant element (to provide flexibility in cookware sizes), one dual rapid boil element and one six-inch warming zone element.  Cooking surface element controls have five heat settings: low (warm or melt), medium low (simmer, stew or steam), medium (slow boil or fry), medium high (rapid boil or browning) and high (quickly bring liquid to boil). 

The GFE461LVT self-cleaning oven has a hidden bake element to simplify wiping up spills and an extra-large oven door.  The oven also offers a number of cooking functions such as Sabbath mode, energy saver mode, rapid preheat and delay bake and has a storage drawer for added convenience and versatility.  There is also a new steam clean option to spot clean the oven interior in less than thirty minutes and the “TimeSavor Plus” convection cooking system that adds a fan and third heating element to the oven for flavorful results fast. The Whirlpool GFE461LVT is available in a biscuit finish and comes with a one year limited warranty on parts and labor.

Pros and Cons 

The Gold Whirlpool GFE461LVT range is a stylish appliance with a number of innovative cleaning related and cooking enhancement features that provide convenience and versatility.  This range is available from all major appliance outlets and the manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $1,049 although advertised prices actually range from $758 to $855.  This range seems to be a good value mid-range appliance priced consistently with the versatile features it offers. 

Few customer reviews exist on this particular range which could mean it operates trouble-free or has not yet been purchased in large numbers.  The cooking top is not of a frameless design as are other ceramic glass top ranges and will not blend in with counter tops as seamlessly.  Also, the color might not be right for some kitchen decorating themes.
