Poetry: Falling in love

"The Greatest Romance"

Once upon a midnight kiss
came one fortnight of dreamlike bliss,
But misdirection led one heart
and tore these two lovers apart.
A month or three in silence passed
when an old interest dared to cast.
The same two lovers all along,
in two weeks time they'd done no wrong.
In fact, grown closer than they were,
a lovely fate; a springtime cure.
So love blossomed a time one more;
a love more gentle, more secure.
Had faith they did, that it would last,
but suddenly their weakness' clashed.
And left love empty once again;
deserted as it once had been.
Remained in contact though, they did
and took part in a friendly bid.
They drift apart as lovers do
when their passions deemed untrue.
But alas, they weren't aware
that this was not their last affair.
An unlikely way it was to meet,
but left them feeling so complete.
But like a romance from a book,
they needn't take a second look.
And soon together they'd grow old,
and tell the greatest story told.
A tale of romance, vast and true;
the greatest romance because of you.
