Blogging is a very satisfying and rewarding pastime in itself and yet there is a way to make money from blogging that turns blogging from a pastime to a career.

Obviously you need to do a little research into your blogging subject matter. Taking your time here will be very rewarding as you pin point a niche for your blog. Of course you could simply write about anything however, the tighter the niche the more chance you have of generating an income.

Choosing a niche for your blog can come from many sources. Hobbies, professional experience and even tragic events that you have overcome can all be good blogging material. The main thing is to forget about the money and to build a good quality blog that is filled with useful and helpful content that will bring in fresh visitors and readers that will subscribe and stay with you.

Once you have a tight niche and you are producing quality blog entries then you can look at monetizing your blog. Of course you can do this from the beginning so that regular followers will not suddenly be greeted with advertising or you can introduce this later on with a relevant blog post to explain why it is time to monetise your blog.

The next stage is of course choosing relevant ways to display advertising. If your blog is product related, such as digital cameras, you could start using affiliate programs such as Amazon to advertise cameras or camera equipment and accessories. You can provide links to e-books and guides and as your blog becomes more popular you can offer placements for advertisers at a price.

The actual principle of making money from your blog is very simple; the key though is bringing enough traffic to your blog to make it worthwhile. Social bookmarking and using Twitter and Facebook can provide good sources of blog traffic. You can also join forums that relate to the blog’s niche and make yourself known. Yahoo answers is a great way of advertising your blog by answering questions based on your blog’s theme.

As your blog traffic builds you can experiment with different forms of advertising and by tracking the results one can find out what works and what does not. Remove the stuff that doesn’t work so that valuable blog space is not filled with useless advertising. Remember filling your blog with banners and flash advertising will only turn your visitors away.

So build a tight high quality blog, get yourself out there and socialize and use quality relevant advertising as an income source. It is a basic formula that works but you need to have patience and dedication.
