Do you know what it is that scares me the most?
Not a murderer, an earthquake or even losing a loved one.
It is seeing people who live, but are dead inside.
It is seeing eyes torn from all emotion, all tears long dried up.
It is seeing children who do not know how to laugh, whose cry is persistent from the time they were born til today.
It is seeing women treated like rag dolls and sex toys, to be used and disposed.
It is seeing no spark, the fire in hearts have been extinguished long ago.
It is seeing a land so distraught with suffering that the ground is barren.
It is seeing the world so torn up in money and power that it forgets morality and compassion.
It is seeing mothers sending their sons to war, ripping out their own bleeding hearts.
It is seeing fathers weeping for their children’s fate, when all pride and composure surrenders to desperation.
It is seeing no other option but to end oneself.
It is seeing fields of flowers in monotone greys.
It is seeing an error continually made wrong.
It is seeing submission to the immoral because there just isn’t any other way.
So, do you know what scares me the most?
When hope does not exist.

My greatest fear
I fear to be without legs to walk, eyes to see
Where I might not arrive or know that I’m there
I fear

It is seeing people
by Parin Waljee
My fears are devastating
Though I look confident and bold,
little fears lie hidden beneath my soul.
At times I wonder why can't
Alone with all my fears, kept all inside.
My greatest fear is me, left all untried.
Living in fear, leaves nothing attained.
by Kris Vaassen
I fear being left
totally and completely
alone in this world
Could I handle the
things I handle today?
Or would I fall apart
