Metropolitan Pub in UxbridgeLocated in Windsor Street in Uxbridge and is within one minute of Uxbridge two shopping centres called the Chimes and the Pavilions. To the left of the Metropolitan pub is a hair and beauty shop and the same to the right. Opposite this pub is another well known pub called the Fig Tree. Further into Uxbridge high street is a J.D Wetherspoons which is also interesting. Parking is available relatively easily at the Chimes shopping centre car park, or at the Cedars car park which I think is linked to the Pavilions shopping centre. For a one hour stay will cost around £1,20p.
I visited this place as a chance to compare my local J.D Wetherspoons pubs in Uxbridge as well as Ruislip Manor. I have visited this Metropolitan pub a few times as I have been shopping in Uxbridge and have found this pub to be well located in a nice and quiet road in the town. Everytime I go into a pub I do not ask for a particular brand of lager as I always prefer a recommendation and this pub visit saw no exception to my rule.
I also found the decor and lighting inside the pub good to peer into from the outside of the pub and have previously known this pub to play reasonably good popular music. It was for these reasons that I decided to take a more up to date and recent look at this pub. I also did try one of the value classic deals on the pubs menu in the form of ordering a 6 oz beef burger and chips. I also noticed from the outside of the pub that there were daily meal deals which were very reasonably priced and compared similarly in terms of price and in type of food to the J.D Wetherspoons.
The atmosphere inside the pub was good overall, I did hear one or two loud customers talking, and the general ambience was very good and vibrant. I did like that there was also two large television screens showing BBC news channel, which is different to my local J.D Wetherspoons who tend to show Sky news or Sky Sports news channels. I have no preference in watching television screens at pub establishments though at least I did notice some difference. There also were by far fewer gaming temptations in terms of fruit machines and quiz games.
The entrance to the pub was free of cigarette litter, and this made it all the more inviting to visit. Also I found that the exterior of the pub to be really well presented, the windows were clean, and the deals were clearly advertised on selected areas of the windows as well as towards the lower advertising areas outside the pub.
