With faultering steps they walk hand in hand,
This aging woman and feeble old man.
They tread the same path that they've strolled for years,
With never a worry and never a fear.
They met in the spring while the blossoms were new;
He was in college, and she was fresh out of school.
They kissed beneath the moon and named all the stars,
And spoke of the future as they gave their hearts.
Another spring and a woman dressed in white;
With tear-filled eyes, he took her for his wife.
The people cheered as the church bells rang,
And some even say that the angels sang.
The years rolled by and their love grew even more,
As they welcomed babies one, two, three and four.
But times can be hard with children to rear,
Yet through it all, she had not a fear.
The children grew and went out on their own,
But they knew they would never be alone.
For the love that they vowed in years gone past,
Was stronger still, and would forever last.
Now every Sunday you can see them there,
This man with his cane, and her of silver hair.
Their eyes sparkle as they stroll side by side,
This perfect couple whose love never dies.

The perfect couple, everyone said,
That magical day in which they were wed.
It seems like yesterday but yet,
Six decades ago,
They were the perfect couple,
he dark and she fair,
Or was it the other way?
They were the perfect couple,

LIke fish and chips
Like blood and water
We fit together
We fit like a jigsaw
