“Don't ask, don’t tell” was introduced by Bill Clinton, former president of the United States as a way of getting around the then rigid laws that banned gays from the military, and which ban had led to several deaths, as various service men harassed those they thought were homosexuals. The law is a compromise in the face of human selfishness, ignorance and intolerance, which would prevent a patriotic, lawful and legal citizen from serving their country in the most openly dangerous of capacities. Though the writer is not homosexual, and does not support that lifestyle, the author must speak out in support of a group that are as deserving of our support as were Blacks before Civil Rights and women before Roe v. Wade.
Homosexuals are no less brave, no less committed, no less fierce, and no less warlike than heterosexuals. Heterosexuals do not have the market on intestinal fortitude, commitment, discipline and patriotism any more than homosexuals. Heterosexuals just prefer their weaknesses than the weaknesses of others.
The reasons given for banning gays from the military make absolutely no sense from the standpoint that heterosexual men and women do all the immoral, profane, and unethical things that they think homosexuals would do. The heterosexual servicemen have raped their own female soldiers, much more the females of the enemies. Heterosexual service men have killed civilians, and committed atrocities for various reasons, of which this writer is unaware, but such information is outlined in various complaints and even in military and civilian courts. Heterosexual service men have brought back on base various STDs from their dalliances with local women, and have in turn infected many other women. Heterosexuality does not give you any moral high ground from which to operate.
Heterosexual service men have also deserted the army over the years. They have gone AWOL, they have turned and run in the face of the enemy, and some of them have even been traitors to the uniform they wear. Heterosexual service men can be a blot on the army they serve, which seeks to keep it a heterosexual army.
Homosexuals can be of high moral character. There are homosexuals who have been faithful to the one partner they have. Not only are they faithful, they eschew any thought of involvement with anyone else because they are committed to the happiness of their partner and to the preservation of what they have as their relationship.
Heterosexuals have also the same hormones
