When planning the perfect golf vacation generally one is looking for a destination spot that offers the perfect balance of golf, good food and a great time.  In Western Canada, there are several options when searching for this type of vacation.  However, there is one of two destinations in Southern British Columbia that are particularly special. 

Your plane lands at Vancouver International Airport, you pick up the rental car and head out of the city.  Leaving the Fraser Valley of British Columbia, the avid golfer might find it hard to make it past the luscious greens that can be seen from the Freeway as you buzz by at a hundred and ten but to the golfer who has ventured further there is much more great golf in store only a few hours up the road.  Following the meandering Hope-Princeton highway and heading west towards the interior of BC, one is led through a passage of beautifully, mysterious mountains lined with bubbling rivers and small towns that play a significant part in the history of British Columbia. 

After two or so hours on the road you may want to stop and enjoy the alpine scenery of Manning Park for a moment but you may want to make it quick as the next golf course lies just up the road and is a great choice for the first stop on your golf vacation.  Princeton, BC is home to the Princeton Golf and Country Club.  A tricky eighteen hole track, this course is know for its heavily treed fairways and long sloping mountainsides.  After your round, their open air clubhouse area is a wonderful spot to enjoy a cold drink and maybe a quick bite.  Princeton has several accommodations available to those wishing to stay for a night or for those wishing to carry there is plenty more golf in store just up the highway. 

An hour up the road, the highway splits in the small town of Keremeos, BC.  Either direction will lead you into the Okanagan Valley of BC, also known as Paradise to the local golfer.  The Okanagan Valley, featuring lakes, wineries and activities to please everyone, has become and is becoming extremely popular for the many highly rated golf courses that the Valley now holds.  From the north to the south, the Okanagan Valley holds so many golf courses there are just too many to list.  The Official Tourism BC website provides a great list of all the golf courses found in the Okanagan and is a great resource for travelling golfers.  Known for great golf, good food, fine wine and a spectacular scenery to boot, the Okanagan has to be the best golf vacation spot in Western Canada.  This is a little piece of heaven that every golfer needs to visit.
