No!   Valentine's Day shouldn't be a SAD day for singles around the world.  Let's get it right people!  Valentine's Day is the celebration of love and affection and it can be directed to anyone...friends, brothers, sisters, partners, neighbors, etc.  It just happens to be more fun if you have an intimate companion.  Will someone please show me where is it written that only couples are allowed to celebrate this very commercial, highly-overrated, insignificant-to-most-people-anyway day?  Yes, I do have a mate, yes I am in a healthy relationship but for God's sake, why do we put so much emphasis on this particular day?  I am just dumbfounded about the HYPE.

I belong to the old school...and by that I mean you tell the person (s) you are with that you love them everyday (if that is how you feel) you don't wait until this day to push "Hallmark’s" stock over the edge by making a silly $3.99  investment (or more in this economy) to tell someone you care!   MUST you say it with a card? NO you don't have to!  For all I care, you can write it on a napkin, book of matches, or toilet paper – but must make sure you mean it!   I can never find a card that expresses what I truly feel to save my life!   Usually by the time Valentine's Day rolls around, I am ready to kill my significant other!  Men on the other hand are the masters of this game!  He makes me cry every time! I am dumbfounded here too!

I am of "Latin" descend, and let's for a brief moment step away from the "hot blooded" label.  Most Latinos are brought up with the understanding that everyday is a special day in our lives, and we live our lives as such, so we tell our people that we love them whenever we get that feeling - we don't hold back, we are not programmed that way!   With us it is a passion we live with everyday, it is more than just a feeling!  So even after growing up in this country, [no doubt the greatest country in the world] I am still at a loss for what the real "hoopla" about this day is?  Is this the "ace" in our pocket?  Are we only allowed to display our feelings for our mates or friends only on this day for the world to see? FTD, Teleflora, Godiva, Russ can you tell me?  Furthermore why do SINGLE people take offense or feel left out?  To those people I say, you need to take a deep look at yourself and see what is missing within you?
