Some people may believe that to be 'flat broke' in this world means that there is no hope at all of being able to do the things you want to do. Having money (and enough of it ) opens up certain freedoms to you that the lack of money just does not. But there are things out there that really, when you come to think about it, involves very little money, or none at all.
First of all how many times have you actually walked in the park? With the pace of life the way it is now, there is a need more than ever, for green-spaces. Also, there is a need to take a breather from the pressures of life, and take a step back. Walking in the park is a wonderful way of doing this, and the bonus is that it is free. For that freedom you are experiencing nature - maybe lakes too, trees, the scented perfume of flowers, and peace.
It is a well-known fact that parks induce a sense of tranquility, (helped by the flowers and trees that surround us) charging us with positivity. Our moods are directly linked to colours, the colours of flowers {as has been proven time and again) and green-spaces, like parks help in this. Flowers, trees, lakes, and greenery reduce our stress levels, and they are calming to our spirits.
Bike Riding is another wonderful way of passing the time if you are broke. Indeed it is the cheapest form of transport in that it is free. It promotes a healthy lifestyle and gets the blood pumping through our veins making us mentally sharp, and mentally aware because we are actually exercising - which, in itself, can only be a good thing for us.
Most sports, if you want to join a club are not cheap to do, but some sports you can play outside and even inside your home, if you have the space. I used to love Table Tennis but we certainly did not have the space for a full sized table tennis table in our home when I was young. What we did was improvise, we had very cheap table tennis bats, and net, with the net we set it up on my mother's small kitchen table. Pulling the table out, we would then have small competitions between my brother and myself.
If there was no one around available to play table tennis with at that particular time, I would set it up so that I would bounce the table tennis ball off over the net and against the wall. This was a great way to pass the time, as a child, and again, was giving us exercises, despite the lack of space.
Libraries and Museums are wonderful places to go and visit when money is short.. Here in the UK all
