Twitter is one of several very active social networking sites  The use of Twitter can help you increase your earnings both on Helium and at other sites where you are paid for page views.  The question that is most often raised is how to get followers on Twitter.  There are some ways that you can gain high quality followers on Twitter. There are also some automated methods.  As a rule of thumb, avoid the "automated" followers route - not only could you be violating Twitter's terms of service, but you are liable to get some followers you do not necessarily want.  Here are some methods to get followers on Twitter.

Post Quality Content

The most valuable tool you have to get followers on Twitter is your content.  If you constantly post bad content, you will lose more followers than you gain.  It is perfectly acceptable to post links to your articles, your blog and your website, but also make sure you post other worthwhile content. News, quotes, current events, issues you care about all make great posts.   Include some personal posts and advise people what you are doing and what you are working on.

Make Use of Hash Tags

Many people overlook the value of the hash tags that are included on Twitter posts.  You can utilize these hash tags (which look like this: #writing) to find people with similar interests.  A great example of this would be if you are "tweeting" about health issues you can search #health and find out who is talking about health on Twitter.  Using hash tags you can then follow others. Once you follow them you can send a message to that follower and encourage them to follow you on Twitter. Be certain that you do not abuse the hash tag feature as Twitter does frown on using irrelevant hash tags. Overuse could also diminish the quality of your tweets.

Check Your Followers

Review your most influential followers and find out who they are following.  Reach out to these people by sending @username messages and ask them if they would be willing to exchange tweets with you.  Using no more than 111 characters, share something useful with them.  Take a look through their time line and find out what topics interest them.  If there is a common thread with items that you are passionate about, follow them and they may in turn follow you.

Every Twitter user will have their own way of identifying followers.  If you are trying to decide how to get followers on Twitter, be proactive in finding followers that you feel are influential and would be interested in the topics you are tweeting about.  Twitter is a powerful micro-blogging tool and if used properly, followers will find you.  Do not forget to share with others how to get followers on Twitter when you find something that works.
