State of Hearts
Once hidden and crippled, bleeding and bruised
My heart lay in pieces; his, left amused.
I swore to avenge to protect and mend.
I swore to never let it feel love again.
Funny how a heart does what it wants.
How it never lives by your wounded haunts.
The heart craves, the heart needs;
The heart beats and thrives as it bleeds.
I thought I was broken, unable to move on.
My heart simply ignored me and used me as it's pawn.
The ultimate move; checkmate.
Who would have thought, my heart ruled my fate.
Now I am in a love that is true and pure.
For heartache there is one simple cure.
The state of your mind isn't always the state of your heart
It is you who must learn how to tell them apart.
