The benefits of eating bee pollen

There are many benefits to including bee pollen as a nutritional supplement.  It contains a large number of different vitamins and minerals, it is high in protein content and very low in fat content.  The protein found in bee pollen is almost entirely essential amino acids, or amino acids that the body uses directly.  Bee pollen also has a near perfect mix of

carbohydrates, protein and fat.  The fat that is found in bee pollen is actually very beneficial as it is necessary for the absorption of the vitamins and minerals by the human body.  Without the presence of this small amount of fat, many of the vitamins and minerals found in bee pollen would pass from the body unabsorbed.

Bee pollen is very high in potassium, which is a mineral that is necessary for proper water balance in the body.  It is this important function that makes potassium the perfect mineral to combat high sodium levels and high blood pressure in humans.  A large part of the health problems associated with the heart come because of the large amounts of sodium we consume.   Excessive sodium in the body causes the body to force water into the circulatory system, increasing blood pressure.  Potassium acts as a counter to this mechanism and helps lower the amount of water in the bloodstream, thus reducing blood pressure.

Bee Pollen also contains a large amount of calcium which is used by the body to build bones and teeth, and to regulate pH levels in the body.  Strong bonus are necessary for proper posture and movement as well as the prevention of muscular injuries.  Proper pH levels are needed to maintain proper metabolism and to reduce the effects of free radicals and other cancer causing agents.

There are many other minerals that are found in Bee Pollen which include Zinc, Magnesium and Iron.  Zinc is needed for a wide variety of bodily functions most notable metabolism, growth and absorption by the digest tract.  Iron is necessary for proper red blood cell function as well as metabolism and growth.

While Bee pollen is certainly a well-rounded supplement, it is in no way a miracle supplement and besides the vitamins, minerals and proteins found in the pollen, there are no secret ingredients that will cure aging, cancer or bring world peace.  Bee pollen also should be taken with care by people with allergies because it can and will cause the same symptoms when eaten as most allergy sufferers experience from inhaled pollen.
